Features Som do Pardal
The sparrow (Passer domesticus) originates in the Middle East, however this bird began to disperse across Europe and Asia, arriving in America around 1850.
Its arrival in Brazil was around 1903 (according to historical records), when the then mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Pereira Passos, authorized the release of this exotic bird from Portugal.
Today, these birds are found in almost every country in the world, which characterizes them as a cosmopolitan species.
